Managing Mastitis
Reduce The Cost Of Mastitis In Your Herd
The wide range in the number of cases between farms of similar size is substantial (from 20 to 100 cases per 100 cows per year). This illustrates the enormous scope to reduce the number of clinical cases and obtain a rapid return on time and effort committed. Mastitis is a complex and painful condition, which costs the milk production industry in excess of £200m annually. For each case, milk lost is £276, which with 58 cases per 100 cows per year on average amounts to some £22,500 for a typical 140-cow herd.
